Governmental overreach strikes again! In a joint letter distributed to schools on Friday, the Departments of Education and Justice offered guidance to ensure “transgender students enjoy a supportive and nondiscriminatory school environment,” according to CNN. That seems innocent enough until you dig deeper.
What are the real implications?
First, it allows students to use their bathroom of choice, according to how they self-identify.
Second, it carries a fairly hefty threat. Schools that do not adhere to the new guidelines – guidelines that do not carry the force of law – risk the loss of federal funding.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick equates the effort to “blackmail” and “social engineering”.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released a scathing statement:
“Once again the Obama administration is going beyond the limits of their constitutional authority to rewrite laws legally adopted by Congress. Under the guise of ‘protecting students from discrimination,’ these federal agencies are using the bully pulpit to strip parents and local school districts of the right to provide a safe learning environment for their children…”
It is well past time for ordinary citizens to exercise common sense, stand against the ruling elite, and do our best to replace them with leaders who will uphold their sworn duties to protect the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight” (Isaiah 5:20-21 ESV)!
As we strive to restore order and common sense, our greatest duty is to pray for each elected and appointed official (1 Timothy 2:1-7).
