Wow, just WOW! For someone supposedly at odds with President Trump, Steve Bannon just released an amazing movie that gets to the heart of why the upcoming election is so important. A link is below, although it may not be displaying properly.

Over the past two years, countless pundits have proffered opinions claiming Christians shouldn’t support President Trump because he’s vulgar, offensive, etc. Those who want to stand behind scripture in those attacks clearly don’t understand scripture.
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Romans 13:1 (ESV)
That scripture and the full context of what Paul wrote in the following passages does not mean we can never disagree with governmental authority. Otherwise, the disciples never would have been successful in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But, those who resist need to be aware that resistance will be met with resistance, while those who submit are not acting contrary to scripture.
In his letter to the church in Rome, Paul is simply codifying the reality that people who claim to recognize scripture as their ultimate authority should also recognize it’s God Who allows who He wills to rise to positions of power and authority, including President Trump, and yes, that also includes Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Xi Jinping, Ali Khamenei, etc.
For anyone who still thinks supporting President Trump does not align with biblical standards, I would encourage them to read the book of Daniel. Daniel served in a leadership role under pagan kings. He first rose to prominence while the Jews were in exile under Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2), who lost his mind due to defiance of God (Daniel 4), and maintained his position of prominence under Nebuchadnezzar’s son Belshazzar (Daniel 5) and Medo/Persian conquerors Darius (Daniel 6) and Cyrus (Daniel 10).
For another great example of godly men serving under pagan leadership, those who are critical of Trump supporters may want to reread the story of Joseph and his rise to leadership under a pagan Pharaoh.
For true students of scripture, Cyrus should also be a familiar name from the book of Isaiah, written well before Daniel and the Jews were exiled to Babylon let alone before Cyrus conquered Babylon.
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself… …who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose’; saying of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be built,’ and of the temple, ‘Your foundation shall be laid.’” Isaiah 44:24, 28 (ESV)
Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and to loose the belts of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed… Isaiah 45:1 (ESV)
Ezra and Nehemiah chronicle how Cyrus implemented God’s plan just as Isaiah prophesied, yet Cyrus worshiped false gods.
If God can use Cyrus, and Daniel was able to serve under his pagan leadership without compromising his testimony, I have no problem – as a follower of Jesus Christ – offering my full support behind President Trump when he supports conservative causes. But, I will have no problem – like Daniel – defying him if it comes to choosing between support or compromising biblical principles.
